If you can’t remember what you’re supposed to do for the next several days, don’t worry. There’s a bunch of calendar apps for that — in case you don’t feel like using Sunrise, which Microsoft has reportedly bought.
Here’s a roundup of seven mobile-friendly calendar apps to check out and maybe even install.
1) Tempo
This app bills itself as a smart calendar, as it extracts information from external apps and puts it into calendar items. And it uses natural language processing to correctly create a new event with even just one line of text you type in. It provides Agenda, Month, Day, Week, and List views for all your calendar events.
Update: Salesforce bought and shut down Tempo AI.
Price: Free.
2) Cal
This app from Any.Do makes it easy for you to invite friends to events and then message them as needed — with a picture representing each friend. The app also conveniently alerts you on your friends’ birthdays.
Price: Free.
3) UpTo
UpTo has a nice way of prioritizing your calendar with the other calendars you subscribe to. You can also add events from Facebook.
Price: Free
4) Calendars 5
This “smart calendar” app from startup Readdle uses natural language processing to parse event descriptions and then fill out calendar event details like times and locations. It comes with mobile offline support out of the box. You can set reminders and list out tasks in the app, too.
Price: $2.99.
5) Fantastical 2
This iOS app from Flexibits packs a sweet horizontal view to reveal events going on during the week. The app integrates reminders with calendar events, which the app can create easily using natural language from users. And you can search for events in your calendar.
Price: $1.99
6) DigiCal
This Android app from Digibites Technology provides a whopping six customizable widgets for your lock screen. The app throws in weather for the locations of calendar events. There’s even Google Now integration.
Price: Free
7) Awesome Calendar
This app from YunaSoft is awesome partly because it lets you create diaries (in addition to a calendar and a task list), and partly because it lets you drop cute little icons into your calendar, which normally can look a bit dull. Cheers to that.
